eCycle Group and GrCI Partner to Support Sustainability and Toner Testing
As the need for cost savings increase, more consumers are choosing less expensive printer cartridges from OEMs and remanufacturers. However, even at lower prices, consumers are expecting the same quality from OEMs and remanufacturers as higher priced cartridges. Consumers expect good color, dense blacks, high resolution, good mileage, no clogging, and more. In sum, consumers want trouble-free toner cartridges at low costs. To help achieve this, the Graphic Communication Institute at Cal Poly offers toner testing for dry electrostatic and liquid inkjet toners to help OEMs and remanufactures determine how they rate on quality, and to identify areas where improvements may be necessary. All testing is conducted in Cal Poly’s Substrates, Ink, and Toner Laboratory—a well-equipped laboratory housing testing devices for a wide range of evaluations of substrates, ink and toner. Some of the testing available include: Liquid Toner - Inkjet Optical Density Color Characteristics of Black Line Raggedness Mottle Drying Time Banding Curl Dry Toner - Powders Optical Density Line Raggedness Mottle Ghosting Background Noise Adhesion eCycle Group will work with participating toner OEMs and remanufacturers to publicize their interest in quality and sustainability, and will assist in promoting the interest of these companies in recycling, in supporting educational and other non-profit philanthropic organizations, and in a more sustainable world.
