Inclusive Excellence at Cal Poly

Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo is using the Association of American Colleges & Universities’ “Making Excellence Inclusive” initiative to address the issue of diversity of all types in the Cal Poly and local community. The university has created a council made up of Cal Poly students, faculty and administrators to advise the president on how to promote the goals of Inclusive Excellence, diversity and equity. The university is encouraging all members of the campus and local community to participate in the discussion.

As part of this Diversity Colloquium, Cal Poly will be honoring local 98-year-old resident Joe Schwartz for his lifelong commitment to documenting the virtues of diversity and how people in all walks of life can and should get along with a focus on black/white communities. This honor is being bestowed from the highest level of the university, the President.
